Bespoke Sri Lanka Journeys

Sri Lanka holidays,built for you.

Taprobane Walk designs Sri Lanka holidays from scratch — not from a template, not from a catalogue. We are a team of travel designers based in Galle, Sri Lanka, and we deliberately limit the number of journeys we take on each year. Not because we have to — because quality requires it. Every Sri Lanka tour we build is private, tailor-made, and singular. It begins with one conversation: who you are, how you travel, and what you want to feel.

From the Taprobane Walk Journal
"There is a road to Ella that the tourist buses don't take. Twenty minutes longer. A lifetime more beautiful. We know it because we drove it before the first hotel was built there."

Why Taprobane Walk

Not for everyone.
Precisely for you.

01
Built from Scratch. Every Time.
Every Sri Lanka holiday we design starts with a conversation — not a form, not a brochure. We ask who you are, how you like to travel, and what you want to feel. Then we build a route that has never been built before and will never be repeated. Every itinerary is singular. No two are the same.
02
Designed by Those
Who Never Left.
Our team has lived and guided in Sri Lanka for over a decade. We know which temple in Polonnaruwa opens at 5am before the crowds arrive, which tea estate in Nuwara Eliya allows private blending sessions with the estate master, and which back road into Ella saves 30 minutes and looks nothing like the tourist photographs.
03
Radically Honest. Always.
No inflated hotel rates. No commission-padded detours. No unnecessary stops added because someone pays us to include them. We show you every supplier cost before you commit — and if a destination is wrong for your trip, we say so. Transparent pricing, always.
Guest Reviews

What our travellers
say about Sri Lanka.

★★★★★

"From the very first day, everything was perfectly organised — transport, accommodations, and activities were handled with great care. They assigned us a personal assistant who managed the entire itinerary. This person made sure everything went smoothly, gave us the best travel advice, and adjusted plans based on our interests."

"My vacation was absolutely amazing. Chamath took me to places most travellers would never get to see, adding a truly authentic and personal touch to the journey. From one mountain to another, breathtaking waterfalls, an incredible safari, and relaxing days at the beach — every part of the trip was special. This was a journey I won't forget."

"After reading the glowing reviews, we were convinced to book our tour with them. From the moment we reached out, their responsiveness was remarkable. They took the time to understand our preferences and crafted a personalised itinerary that included all the must-see sites and experiences we had in mind. Their attention to detail was truly impressive."

Common Questions

Everything you need to know
before you begin.

Most Sri Lanka tour operators are based in the UK and sell pre-packaged itineraries assembled from a catalogue. Taprobane Walk is different because we are based in Sri Lanka — in Colombo — and we design every journey from scratch for the individual traveller. We do not have packages. We have conversations. Every Sri Lanka holiday we produce is a one-off, built around who you are and how you like to travel. We also operate with full pricing transparency: no hidden commissions, no inflated hotel rates.

Our Sri Lanka tours start from approximately £3,500 per person for a 9-night private journey, depending on accommodation level, season, and destinations. Luxury Sri Lanka holidays with boutique properties such as Dilmah's Ceylon Tea Trails or Wild Coast Tented Lodge typically range from £5,500 to £9,000 per person. There are no hidden costs — we share a full cost breakdown before you commit to anything.

The short answer is: it depends which part of Sri Lanka you visit. The south and west coasts (Galle, Mirissa, Colombo) are best from November to April. The east coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay) is best from May to September. The hill country (Ella, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya) is year-round but most dramatic in the early morning mist of January to March. Because we design routes rather than sell fixed packages, we can plan your Sri Lanka holiday around the weather in each region rather than fitting you into a set departure. Yes. Sri Lanka is safe for tourists in 2026. The UK Foreign Office currently rates Sri Lanka as safe to visit with standard travel precautions. The country has been stable since the civil conflict ended in 2009, and the economic crisis of 2022 has substantially recovered. Tourist infrastructure across Colombo, the Cultural Triangle, hill country, and the south coast is fully operational. We have been operating Sri Lanka tours throughout this period and have never had a safety incident with any guest. Read our full safety guide →

We recommend a minimum of 10 days for a first visit to Sri Lanka. This gives you time to cover the cultural triangle (Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa), the hill country (Kandy, Ella), and the south coast (Galle, Mirissa) without feeling rushed. A 14-day Sri Lanka holiday allows for a slower pace — adding Yala National Park for wildlife, Wilpattu for off-track safari, or more time in the tea country. A 7-day trip is possible but limits you to one or two regions. Browse our itinerary guides →

Yes — Sri Lanka honeymoon packages are among our most requested journeys. Sri Lanka is an exceptional honeymoon destination: a single island that combines beach, jungle, ancient ruins, hill country tea estates, and whale watching in one 10–14 day circuit. We design honeymoon itineraries around the couple — not a template. Popular combinations include Galle Fort boutique hotels + Ella tea country + Mirissa whale watching, or the Cultural Triangle + Kandy + a private beach villa on the south coast.
